The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee(TTOC) will host in September a high level planning and periodization course as a follow up to it's Art and Science of coaching course.
The TTOC as part of it's ongoing emphasis on coaching development will bring in an expert in that area from Canada to conduct the one week course.
"This is a very important building block for coaches.We intend to invite national coaches and trainers.This particular area is one that our local coaches with no exceptions need to improve on if we are to achieve consistency at the world class level" said TTOC President Larry Romany.
The Course description :
Complete an analysis of your sport, your contextual reality and the needs of the athlete(s). Integrate key performance factors and major tasks with their corresponding training load within an annual training and competition plan. Sequence training objectives and tasks within the key meso / microcycles (general basic; specific basic; competition). Design a taper phase leading to the decisive competition of the year.
Generic competencies
The coach is able to analyze and solve problems in a given situation/context/ environment, relating and integrating several variables in the global picture. The coach is capable of critical thinking, characterized by his/her rationale or justification related to decisions taken.
