Brothers Stephen and Simon Njoroge almost did not make it to the start of the marathon, but when they did, the Kenyan siblings snatched gold and silver respectively in the 36th edition of the Trinidad and Tobago International Marathon, yesterday.

The 2018 edition of the T&T International marathon was dominated by foreign athletes. The 35th edition of the prestigious race was captured by Stephen Njoroge of Mexico.

Defending champions Jose Alejandro Varela and Leah Kigen will aim to defend their titles when the 36th edition of the Trinidad and Tobago International Marathon takes place tomorrow in a weekend full of long distance events.

Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee President (TTOC) Brian Lewis, is preparing to “Walk the Talk” this Sunday, January 21^st in the Trinidad and Tobago International Marathon in support of the TeamTTO #10Gold24 Athlete Welfare and Preparation Fund. In a continued effort to raise financial support and awareness for the Fund, Lewis will undertake the arduous 26.2 mile journey from Freeport to the Queens Park Savannah.

Team Trinidad and Tobago is assured participation in at least three multi-sport Games in 2018, thanks to an injection of funding from the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.

Within the last ten (10) days, there were two national award ceremonies, starting with the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) on December 29 and followed with the National Association for Athletic Administrations (NAAA) awards on January 6.
