The postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics has, as expected, taken a heavy toll on the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) financial performance in 2020, with the Lausanne-based body reporting a deficit of $55 million (£40 million/€46.7 million) for the year.

THE SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (IOC) APPROVED A CHANGE IN THE OLYMPIC MOTTO THAT RECOGNISES THE UNIFYING POWER OF SPORT AND THE IMPORTANCE OF SOLIDARITY. THE CHANGE ADDS THE WORD “TOGETHER” AFTER A DASH TO “FASTER, HIGHER, STRONGER”. THE NEW OLYMPIC MOTTO NOW READS: “FASTER, HIGHER, STRONGER - TOGETHER”.
