Led by sprint powerhouses Jamaica, Caricom nations broke several barriers and recorded their highest-ever medal haul. In the end, the region won seven gold,four silver and seven bronze.” CANOC said the writer went on to highlight the fantastic feats of Jamaican medallists and of those of the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada. It said Cuba and The Dominican Republic were to be added to the list. “When we meet in Grand Cayman in October, further congratulatory remarks will be made. We must now renew our efforts to inaugurate the Caribbean Games, while the world is watching.”
