BRIAN LEWIS, president of the TT Olympic Committee (TTOC), acknowledges that the local Olympic body will need to readjust and focus on the July 23-August 8, 2021 dates, announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Tokyo will be my 20th Olympic Games. Ever since Sarajevo 1984, I have worked with every organizing committee, attended every Games, and experienced first-hand the complexity of what it takes to deliver the world's greatest event. Most importantly, I have come to appreciate how the great gathering of the youth of the world creates a magic that inspires us all when the athletes take center stage in the Olympic arena.

The announcement of new dates for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan has been welcomed by Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) president Brian Lewis. In a press release, yesterday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said the Games will be staged from July 23 to August 8, 2021.

Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) president Brian Lewis is confident a new date for Tokyo 2020 will be decided within the next few weeks following the latest round of IOC teleconference meetings, chaired by IOC president Thomas Bach, Friday.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach opened the door to the possibility of Tokyo 2020 being rescheduled before the summer of 2021 and warned those involved in the moving of the Games would have to make "sacrifices and compromises".
