Cleopatra Borel -Brown repulsed a challenge from Gui Zhang of Singapore to win the bronze medal in the women's shot put at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Brown who placed fourth at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games regained third position on her fifth attempt following a 17.87 throw .

New Zealand's Valerie Vili established a games record in her gold medal 19.66m throw.Nigerian Vivian Chukwuemka 18.25 best effort was good for the silver medal.

Day seven at the Melbourne Cricket Ground(MCG) also saw excellent from Aaron Armstrong who advanced to the semi-final in the men's 200m.Armstrong placed third(20.78) in his round two heat.

Sherridan Kirk showed that fortune favours the brave as his enterprising run in his 800m heat saw the Tobagonian taking first place (1.49.11)to earn a place in tomorrow's final.

As the curtain came down on day seven of the 18th Commonwealth Games the Bhp Billition sponsored T&T team medal count now stood at three.

TTOC President Larry Romany expressed joy at the achievement of Cleopatra Borel."The TTOC has worked very closely with Cleopatra over the years and she is an excellent athlete her success is well deserved"said Romany

Romany also noted that Sherridan Kirk's run reflected the determination of the T&T team to dare to dream .

Tomorrow(Thursday) team T&T will return to the MCG for Borel's medal ceremony,the men's 200m and the 800m final.
