Abigail Vieira is the first ever athlete from Trinidad & Tobago to participate at a Youth Olympic

Games, and the first Alpine Skier from TTO to participate at any Olympic event

Today was a day without competition for Abigail Vieira. She took advantage of the day off to recover, explore a bit of the athletes’ village, do some media activity, and prepare for tomorrow’s races.

We take the opportunity of the day off, to take a look at the rest of her team, as well as at the Trinidad & Tobago Snowsports Federation. Please find the two feature stories separate to this daily briefing.

Preview for tomorrow: Abigail Vieira’s next and final competitions will be the slalom races on January 14th, with the 1st run scheduled at 9:30 and the 2nd one at 13:45 CET.

The races will be live streamed on the Olympic Channel at https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/live/

Sport Description from Lausanne 2020: Each skier completes 2 runs on 2 different courses, usually set by different coaches on the same slope and on the same day. Slalom courses consist of two single poles through which the competitor has to ski. Slalom competitions are run in an "against the clock" format, with the competitors attempting to cross the finish line with the fastest time. The winner is the skier with the fastest combined times.
