Machel Cedenio captured the boys’ under-17 400/200 double at the 2011 Carifta Games, in Montego Bay, Jamaica, clocking 47.38 seconds in the 400 metres final and 21.43 in the half-lap event.

Cedenio followed up with a fourth-place finish in the 400 at the World Youth Championships, in France, the Trinidad and Tobago athlete completing his lap of the track in a personal best 46.89 seconds.

In 2012, Cedenio has improved his PR (personal record) to 46.02, the impressive run coming at the National Championships, in Port of Spain. The clocking earned him fifth spot in the 400 final and a ticket to London, England as part of the country’s 4 x 400 metres Olympic relay squad.

Cedenio celebrated with boys’ under-18 400 metres gold at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Junior Championships, in El Salvador.
