Marc Burns is the Mr Consistent of Trinidad and Tobago sprinting.

As a teenager, Burns earned men’s 100 metres bronze at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Chile. And two years later, at the World Juniors meet in Jamaica, he claimed silver in the same event.

Competing in the senior ranks, Burns reached the 100 metres final at three successive World Championship meets, finishing seventh in Helsinki, Finland in 2005, eighth in Osaka, Japan in 2007, and seventh in Berlin, Germany in 2009.

The Alabama-based sprinter also faced the starter in the 100 metres championship race, at the 2008 Olympic Games, in Beijing, China. He copped seventh spot.
This season, Burns clocked 10.08 seconds on April 21 at a meet in his adopted hometown of Auburn, Alabama. It was his fastest run since 2009.

At the 2012 National Championships, in Port of Spain, Burns improved on that 10.08 clocking, getting to the line in 10.06 seconds to finish fourth in the final, earning selection on his fourth Olympic team.
