Cleopatra Borel is an Olympic veteran. She made her debut on the biggest global sporting stage in 2004, in Ancient Olympia, Greece, finishing tenth in the women’s shot put with an 18.35 metres throw.

Competing at the same place where the Ancient Olympics were first held, back in 776 B.C., Borel wrote her name into the history books in the qualifying competition.

Women were not allowed to take part in the Ancient Olympics, so by throwing 18.90 metres in the first round of qualifying Borel became the first athlete to qualify for the final in the very first event for women in Ancient Olympia.
