The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee(TTOC) is confident heading into the 15th Pan American Games that the T&T team is well prepared and capable of bagging a record medal haul. The record medal tally is seven achieved in Winnipeg in 1967 and equaled in Santo Domingo in 2003.

TTOC Officials assert that none of the selected athletes have a legitimate complain as both the National Olympic Committee and the Government -through the sports company and the Ministry of Sport's ELITE Athlete Assistance programme have collectively done their part to ensure that funding was not an issue.

TTOC President Larry Romany speaking at a farewell function for the team last week said that the 2007 team is the best prepared team to depart for a Pan American Games. The National Olympic chief said he expects that the best ever medal haul of 7 medals will be surpassed.

TTOC Secretary General Brian Lewis reminded the athletes that participation at the Pan American Games is important ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
