Caribs, multiple winners of that title, had to settle for third position in a default win after their opponents Rainbow forfeited the match that was scheduled to be played two hours earlier at the same ground.
In the final Harvard proved to be a cut above their opponents and they showed it early in the match when Claudius Butts out sprinted the defence to give his team a 5-0 advantage.
Ryan Hinkson’s missed conversion soon after however, allowed Northerns to equalize within the half from Jesse Richards, breaking away from the scrum with a try for his team.
Harvard pulled away afterwards, with Butts and Hinkson spearheading the win.
Hinkson made amends for the missed conversion earlier on by scoring three penalties, a dropped kick and a conversion to add to Butt’s second try of the match that took the score to 21. Shakiel Dype assured Harvard the title with a try and conversion which took the score to 29. Northerns, for years have battled arch-rivals Caribs for titles, got double tries from James Phillips later on to finish on 15.
Their victory came only days after Police Women took home the Women’s Knock Out title with a comprehensive 12-5 triumph over Royalians in the final.
